At MacWilliam Farms we take pride in growing all our produce
organically. This means we do not use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides,
but rely instead on crop rotations, crop residues (inedible parts of
plants, such as corn stalks), animal manure, green manure (crops
planted specifically to be returned to the soil) and biological pest
control. This more natural approach avoids the negative effects that
intensive, 'factory farming' has on the health of consumers,
farmers, farms, and the environment in general.
Our broad selection of organically-grown produce
includes:
~15 var. of tomatoes, ~8
var. of lettuce, ~8 var. of apples, asparagus, peppers,
cucumbers, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, beets, beans, zucchini, melons, potatoes, sweet
potatoes, squash, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, Swiss chard, and
spinach.
To learn more about what we have available at a
specific time of year, drop by the farm, visit our booth at one
of our farmers' markets, or give us a call at: (905)836-9656.
Please note all our produce is grown
at our farm; none is bought from the food terminal in Toronto.
